10 Things Newcastle Fans Need To Know About Ivan Toney

5. Toney Has A Somewhat Fiery Disciplinary Record

Interestingly, Toney loves to put himself about on the park and that has brought with it a raft of cards - both yellow and red in colour. Last season, Toney was booked 10 times for Northampton in 44 appearances - including three in his final five games - which is the exact same number as the amount of goals he scored. Most notably, however, Toney was sent off in the 3-2 defeat to Bury on Boxing Day last year. Having assisted the Cobblers' opener, Toney then clashed with Bury's Hayden White behind the goal and both were dismissed. Northampton boss Chris Wilder explained what he knew of the incident after the game (BBC Sport):
"Ivan has said the lad was on top of him and he's tried to get up. "He says there's been no violent conduct."
Whether there was violent conduct or not, Toney was dimissed - and his disciplinary record last season was fiery to say the least.
