10 Things Newcastle Fans Need To Know About Ivan Toney
4. He Almost Signed For Wolverhampton Wanderers Last Year... But Failed A Medical
According to The Express And Star, Wolverhampton Wanderers had agreed a £500,000 deal with Northampton Town for Ivan Toney last November - only for the forward to fail his medical because of an "undisclosed problem". In fact, Wolves boss Kenny Jacket said of the failure to complete the signing of Toney at the time:
"There's a number of things, but it didn't come off. The exact nature of it has to stay confidential, but the interest isnt there now. "We wish the player (Toney) all the best and we move on. I wouldn't say the door is completely closed but he wont be coming in this time."
This all sounds very suspicious, but also extremely concerning. Let's hope that whatever problems prevented Toney from signing for Wolves have either disappeared altogether, or were over-exaggerated - because the Magpies do not want to sign a potential crock, that's for sure.
