Newcastle's Chief Scout Graham Carr joined Northampton Town in August 1962 (his first professional club) and captained their reserve side before breaking into their first team. He played 27 times in Northampton's only season in the First Division. After moving into management in 1977, Carr left Nuneaton Borough in 1985 and became manager of the Cobblers.
