10 Things Newcastle Fans Need To Know About Portland Timbers 2

6. Portland's Name And Badge Refers To The Timber Heritage In The Pacific Northwest... While The Circular Shape Of Their Crest Has A Profound Meaning

Timbers 2's logo is exactly the same as their parent club, and is pictured above. The circular shape of the crest supposedly represents "unity, wholeness and the pursuit of perfection" (whatever that means) and is an ode to the old Timbers USL side. It doesn't take a genius to work out that the axe in the centre of the logo is a reference to the Pacific Northwest's traditional timber logging industry, while the three chevrons that surround it are supposed to resemble a pine tree and are intended to allude to the fact that the Timbers having taken part in three separate leagues during their time - the North American Soccer League, the United Soccer League (which their reserve side still play in), and Major League Soccer. What's more, the teams colours of "ponderosa green" and "moss green" are also an ode to Oregon's vast and substantial forests.
