''In January, MVila behaved badly - one day he trained, one day he didnt. Maybe his agents had promised him something. He thought he was already in Liverpool. I told him: It is not your level. If you go, you will be on the bench. He was very disappointed. - Rubin Kazan coach, Rinat Bilyaletdinov.
Yann MVila belongs in that group of undoubted talents who will never realise their true potential due to their questionable work ethic and poor attitude. While Adel Taarabt and Hatem Ben Arfa flounder in lesser sides, the 24 year old Frenchman was deemed too much of a hassle for Ruban Kazan and was farmed out on loan to Inter Milan, where he was appeared just once. MVila was always touted as one to watch while at Rennes, but his attitude always seemed to weigh him down, culminating in a two year expulsion from the national side for an unauthorised night out while on under-21 duty. His former coach, Guy Lacombe, described him as a loose cannon, calling into question his dedication, which was exemplified by his substandard and apathetic performances in Russia. Do Liverpool really need this type of attitude, especially when last seasons richly successful dynamic was built on harmony and team ethic? Even the arrival of the enigmatic Mario Balotelli this season looks to have slightly disrupted the core principles laid out under Brendan Rodgers, so one can only imagine what fireworks there would have been with MVila in tow.
