10 U20 World Cup Stars Premier League Sides Should Sign
5. Rodrigo Bentancur
Posted by Rodrigo Bentacur on Monday, June 1, 2015
Currently At: Boca Juniors (Will Join Juventus)
Position: Midfielder
Standing at a towering 6"1, Bentancur is often compared to Chelsea's powerhouse Nemanja Matic, with his traits strikingly similar to the Chelsea midfielder - tall and powerful but also sleek and graceful.
A colossus in the Uruguayan midfield, Bentancur is a controlling playmaker, sweeping around the pitch, changing direction and accelerating through the gears in a way that belies his size. Bentancur also possesses great vision and recycles the ball well, often dropping deep to dictate the play and set the tempo. During the tournament, he acted more as a box-to-box midfielder, a role which allowed him to unleash his powerful long-range efforts.
After being closely monitored for the better part of two years, Juventus snapped up Bentancur for a measly £8 million after activating their first option on the player as part of the deal to sell Carlos Tevez back to Boca on the cheap in 2015.
Far from the finished article however, Bentancur's outlay in terms of goals and assists is far below what a man of his ability should be producing. It would be wise for Juventus to let him continue gaining first team experience out on loan and his physical attributes and style of play mean he'd adapt to English football well
Clubs That He'd Suit: Newcastle, Stoke, West Brom
