Jonathan Walters is the sort of player who continues to score season after season, without ever receiving much credit for it.

Although Stoke can now boast some extremely talented players on their books, such as Bojan and Marko Arnautović, Walters continues to kick his goal tally ticking along. He’s far from the main star at Stoke City, but that’s what makes him an unsung warrior. Despite his goals tally being far from extraordinary, he’s contributed plenty to Stoke’s success this season.

He’s also got a good sense of humour. Picking up on a headline earlier in the season that proclaimed, “Raheem Sterling snubbed £100,000-a-week but has scored less than Jon Walters”.

Walters tweeted a photo of himself preparing to knock on the manager’s door implying he was after a pay rise.
