10 World Footballers Premier League Clubs Should Sign This Summer
5. Fred (Shakhtar)
Shakhtar Donetsk have made a killing from their conveyor belt of Brazilians over recent years, the latest one to catch the eye of the Premier League big boys being the disappointingly-named Fred, a diminutive ball-playing central midfielder.
The talk is that Manchester City are keen on recruiting the 25-year-old as a long-term replacement for fellow countryman Fernandinho, who turns 33 in a couple of weeks and probably won't be able to keep pace with Pep Guardiola's frantic pressing game too much longer.
In good news for Shakhtar, however, City could face competition for his signature from their cross-city rivals, with Mourinho looking to bolster his squad numbers as he plots a more enduring title challenge in 2018-19.
We've seen these two clubs jostle for the same player before, namely in January of this year when Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez sought a move away from the Emirates. On that occasion, it was the Red Devils who came out on top, although that took a massive chunk out of their wage budget.
