10 Worst Ever Penalty Misses

2. Robert Pires Vs Manchester City

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3UCKco-5to I still can't quite work out what on earth Robert Pires was doing with this one. The Frenchman had earlier made Arsenal history by dispatching from the spot to beat David James for the 500th goal scored at Highbury, and perhaps that accomplishment got to his head slightly when he stepped up to take penalty number 2. He trotted up to the ball, and stroked an air-kick over it, not actually making any contact at all. Some suggest he was trying to outfox the keeper by rolling it to an opponent, either way, it was a perplexing decision and a free-kick was awarded against him. If you are taking a set piece, and then concede a set piece, you know you are doing something wrong.
