10 Worst Ever Premier League Misses

1. Fernando Torres (vs Man Utd, 2011)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ4emd55Fp4 We agonised and deliberated over whether Rosenthal's historic howler should make No.1 on our list and it actually did on quite a few occasions until we weighed everything up and decided that, given the sheer amount of money paid for Fernando Torres, his miss 19 years after the Israeli's was marginally worse. Torres's miss shares a series of similarities with Rosenthal's. Both used to play for Liverpool, both rounded the goalkeeper, and both missed an open goal under absolutely NO pressure. Things were looking pretty good for the Spaniard at one point. Chelsea were trailing 3-0 at half-time but Torres, who had just become the costliest player in British transfer history, came out in the second half and showed why he was worth all that money by reducing the deficit to 3-1. And he could have, SHOULD HAVE made life even more difficult for United by netting a second. It would have got the Blues right back into this game and put them on course for a draw that seemed unlikely at the interval. Yet after skipping past goalkeeper David De Gea, the striker failed to hit the open target. It was a miss that has since summarised his entire Chelsea career, for the forward has flopped at Stamford Bridge since his move from Anfield, and misses such as these makes the £50 million paid for his services look like a waste of money. What do you think are the 10 worst misses of the Premier League era? Did we miss any out? Share your thoughts in the comments thread, below.
