10 Worst Ever Premier League Misses

8. Carlos Tevez (vs Sunderland, 2010)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odgg8R0AIa4 Failing to convert a gilt-edged chance in front of an open goal when your side are winning is one thing. Missing a sitter, and then going on to watch on in horror as your team lose the match is something else. That's the fate that befell Manchester City's Carlos Tevez in 2010 as City slumped to a shock defeat against Sunderland. With the score locked at nil-nil at the time, City broke on the Black Cats in numbers, with Yaya Toure finding himself in acres of space deep inside the penalty area. The Sunderland goalkeeper came out to narrow the target, but the Ivorian simply squared it to Tevez to score in front of an open goal. Of course, one glance at the title of this article will tell you things didn't quite go according to plan. Even though he had the time and room to trap the ball, compose himself and slot home, Tevez instead attempted to hit it first time and saw his effort balloon harmlessly over the crossbar. To make matters worse, Darren Bent went on to strike an injury-time penalty to give Sunderland a dramatic win.
