It was 2013 and the Red Devils had just won the league once again, but their leader had decided to call it a day on his magnificent tenure in the hot seat at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson placed his faith in David Moyes to be his successor at Manchester United, but his fellow Scot struggled to lure stellar names to the club. With big-money moves constantly being knocked back, most notably Gareth Bale, Moyes panicked and reverted to his old faithful at Everton, Marouane Fellaini.

The big-haired Belgian arrived late on in the summer transfer window for £27.5 million just weeks after his £20 million buyout clause had expired. Fellaini has rarely justified the big fee since making the switch, and the inflated price shows just how much of a panic buy he turned out to be.
