4. Man City 4-1 Man United, 2013
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rCSWhwvEqU Brace yourselves, Manchester United supporters, because we have now entered the realm of performances under David Moyes - when things really got bad. Moyes was only a couple of months into the job when he was dealt the challenge of a Manchester derby against the champions-elect. Man United were simply blown away by the superiority of a rejuvenated Man City, erected by the incoming Mauricio Pellegrino, stunning them with four goals of real quality and class. Nobody could have envisioned based on that game that the Red Devils had finished 11 points clear of their Mancunian counterparts the previous season as they stormed to the title, such was the gulf in class between the two sides. Two strikes from Sergio Aguero either side of a Yaya Toure goal had City 3-0 up after 47 minutes, before Samir Nasri added a fourth three minutes later, to really pave the way for the Oles from the crowd. Not even a late free-kick from Wayne Rooney could dampen their jubilant spirits, as they enjoyed watching their side steamroller a stagnant and insipid Manchester United side who really didnt want to know. Not even Moyes, so often the apologist, could offer an excuse for the lamentable performance served up by his side.
''Ive been here with Everton many times and I dont think I have ever suffered a defeat like this. We didnt start the game well. Im disappointed we didnt perform because there was no reason for us not to after a good result in midweek against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. We were second to things in the first half especially, seemed to be a yard behind and we never seemed to get to the pitch of the game right from the off, which was disappointing because thats what set out to do. It is one game. There are plenty more to come and plenty of time to fix it. - David Moyes, September 2013.
Just the 29 league games to be precise, David.
