10. Man United 6-0 Newcastle, 2008
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpa9oDJpG1A Nigel Pearson may have doffed a feather in his cap with a 5-3 pummelling of Manchester United three weeks ago, but it was certainly a slice of revenge that was a long time coming following his first outing as a Premier League manager. Having been installed as Newcastles interim coach to oversee the trip to Old Trafford in January 2008 while the club searched for a new boss to replace the sacked Sam Allardyce, the Tyneside outfit actually did well to stifle the champions-elect in the first half, keeping them at bay in a goalless first half. And then the beast awoke. It was possibly the most torturous 45 minutes that have ever been inflicted on this club in the Premier League, as a re-energised Manchester United re-emerged from the dressing-room and blitzed a static back-line. First Cristiano Ronaldo broke the deadline with a drilled free-kick, before Carlos Tevez capitalised on weak defending to slot a second, before Ronaldo helped himself to a second moments later. The Tyneside clubs misery was only half-complete, as the Red Devils waltzed through a shell-shocked Magpies defence once more, with Rio Ferdinand adding the finishing touch, before Ronaldo bagged his first hat-trick for the club. There was even still time for Tevez to grab a sixth for the club, to cap an absolutely catastrophic afternoon for the Magpies.
