10 Worst World Cup Teams Ever

6. Saudi Arabia (2002)

Saudi Arabia haven't exactly lit up the 2018 World Cup and didn't do too well at the 2002 edition either. They've appeared at five tournaments in total, winning two games in their 1994 debut appearance and making it to the round of 16 on that occasion, but majorly struggling ever since. 2002 was undoubtedly their worst ever performance.

If you thought that their 5-0 loss to Russia was a bad way to start this summer's tournament, their opening in 2002 was even worse! In Japan's Sapporo Dome, the Saudis lost 8-0 to Germany. Miroslav Klose scored a great hat-trick on that occasion and Saudi Arabia struggled to string two passes together.

From there, the Saudi Arabians saved face against Cameroon, competing well for some periods of the game but falling to a 1-0 defeat in the end. Their World Cup ended with a 3-0 loss to Ireland, with Robbie Keane opening the scoring after just seven minutes.
