11 Cheap Fantasy League Players You Must Sign
1. ST: Diafra Sakho (West Ham) £6.0m
If anybody needed any proof that economics and football is not a marriage that makes sense, then look no further than what West Brom are willing to shell out for Diafra Sakho of West Ham. 20 years ago, £15 million would have shattered the world record transfer fee and would have landed one of the greatest British centre-forwards to have ever kicked a ball. Now, it might get you a disgruntled Senegalese striker who scored five league goals the previous campaign.
£16 million is the fee that has been agreed between West Brom and West Ham for Diafra Sakho, and while that seems like daylight robbery for a man of his limited ability, his Fantasy League price of £6.0m is far more reasonable and might represent value for money.
While last season was a write-off for the West Ham hitman, the 14/15 season produced double figures - bagging 12 goals in 26 appearances. If Sakho can reproduce anything close to that sort of form at West Brom, replacing another want away star in Saido Berahino, then perhaps he might be worth a punt.
