11 Newcastle Players Who Fell Out With Managers

1. Craig Bellamy Vs Graeme Souness

Few Newcastle players have quite as many clashes on their record as Craig Bellamy, and only the Welshman has fallen out with two separate managers at the same club and antagonised the club's record scorer and most beloved hero. Bellamy engineered his Newcastle exit, despite earning the adoration of the crowd with some incredible performances - and that Feyenoord goal - by failing out with dour, terrible manager Graeme Souness. Souness had apparently demanded that the Welshman play on the right side, because that's the kind of manager he was, and Bellamy flatly refused saying he would fake injury if forced to play out of position. Bellamy then called Souness a liar over that claim, and was fined £80,000 and told he would never play for Newcastle as long as he was manager. He then went to Celtic, where he decided to antagonise Alan Shearer, by texting him after Newcastle's defeat to Man Utd in the 2005 FA Cup semi-final and telling him €œyour legs are gone. You€™re too old. You€™re too slow.€ Whether he remains on Shearer's Christmas card list is unclear.
