11 Players That Represented Both Man Utd And Newcastle
8. Alan Smith
Alan Smith arrived at Manchester United in 2004 as an England international striker - but left a bang average holding midfielder - which prompted then new Newcastle United manager Sam Allardyce to sanction a £6 million and £60,000 per week deal in 2007. Smith, who captained Newcastle for a spell before Kevin Nolan took the armband during the 2009/10 Championship season, made 94 appearances for The Toon, famously failing to get on the score sheet in the process. In fact, his only goal at all in the black and white shirt came during his debut in a pre season game against Italian side Sampdoria. What a disappointment.
