11 Transfers That Prove English Players Are Hideously Overpriced

11. Nedum Onuoha To Queens Park Rangers (£80,000 per week)

Daniel Hambury/EMPICS SportDaniel Hambury/EMPICS SportLet's start off, rather than focusing on a transfer fee, with a player whose utterly insane wages (given his level of talent) set tongues wagging in January 2012. Queens Park Rangers signed Nedum Onuoha from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee that was believed to be in the region of £3 million - not an unreasonable sum for any Premier League squad player in this day and age - but the wages of £80,000 that he was offered were absolutely unbelievable. At the time, Onuoha was 25 years old and hadn't fully established himself as a Premier League first-team player. He only made 72 league starts in eight years at Manchester City and a season-long loan at Sunderland did not turn him in to an £80,000 a week player. Bearing in mind Onuoha was - and still is - uncapped, that kind of weekly wage is crazy.
