Age: 57 Nationality: English Clubs Managed: Swindon Town (player/manager, 1991-93), Chelsea (player/manager, 1993-96), England (1996-99), Southampton (2000-01), Tottenham Hotspur (2001-03), Wolverhampton Wanderers (2004-06) Managerial Honours: 1993 First Division Play-Off Final Winner (Swindon Town) The 57-year-old may have been out of management since 2006 but there have been many calls in the media for Glenn Hoddle to return to the coaching scene. The ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea midfielder took his first move into coaching as player-manager of Swindon Town in 1991, guiding them to the Premier League. He then repeated the role at Chelsea, before becoming England boss in 1996. Renowned for his use of the 3-5-2 formation during his time as Three Lions boss, Hoddle was fairly successful with England as he recorded a 60% win success rate - and led them to the second round of the 1998 World Cup - although he was sacked in 1999 after revealing some controversial beliefs he held. Largely-unsuccessful spells at Southampton, Spurs and Wolverhampton Wanderers followed, but since 2006 he has mainly operated as a TV pundit. However, between August 2014 and February 2015 he did work as first-team coach at Queens Park Rangers. Hoddle would represent a negative choice for Newcastle. He has not managed for nine years and he is past his sell-by date in such a role. Let's hope he isn't in the Magpies hotseat anytime soon.
