12 Candidates Who Could Be Sunderland's Next Manager

11. Paul Clement

Paul Clement is an unknown quantity, and it'd be hard to know every detail about his methods and styles seen as he has never managed a club before, but he's obviously got to be a world class coach following his rise from a non-league playing career to becoming the assistant manager of both PSG and Real Madrid alongside Carlo Ancelotti, as well as coaching roles with Chelsea. He looked very likely to be signing for Derby County before Advocaat departed, though the move appeared to stall. Now Clement has taken to Twitter to announce that he is leaving Real Madrid, though it's unclear as to whether that means he will instantly sign for the Midlands outfit, or whether he is just set to become a free agent. Sunderland were interested before, now will they make a late swoop?
