12 New England Internationals For 2015
The next generation of English talent pushing for Euro 2016.
As often happens after England's biennial tournament humiliation, the British press and public call for an injection of young blood. This was perhaps louder than ever following this summer's World Cup in Brazil. The problem is, there isn't always a hotbed of talent to pick from, especially when the domestic league is full of so much money and foreign purchases. Nevertheless, coach Roy Hodgson has the task of finding such talent to replace the likes of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Glen Johnson, Michael Carrick and Phil Jagielka. So far, the revolution has introduced Calum Chambers, Nathaniel Clyne, Fraser Forster and John Stones to the Three Lions but, going into 2015, who is next? When looking for new internationals, it was a shock to see so many average to mediocre players that already have one or two caps, therefore ruling them out of this list. Names like Jonjo Shelvey, Jake Livermore, Jon Flanagan, Jack Rodwell, Martin Kelly and Jack Butland are England internationals. Even players who have had a good start to the 2014-15 season such as Ryan Bertrand, Carl Jenkinson and Steven Caulker have England caps. So, who could the new internationals of 2015 be? Honourable mentions:Britt Assombalonga - Eligible for both England and DR Congo, the Nottingham Forest striker withdrew from a provisional African Cup of Nations squad in August. Nathan Dyer - At 27, Dyer is possibly too old to be considered for England, but the winger has been impressive in Swansea's four Premier League seasons. In that time, he's scored 17 goals. Danny Ings - With four goals in seven under-21 appearances, Ings will surely be considered if he keeps scoring for Burnley. Ryan Mason - With his nomadic career already written off at 23, Mason has suddenly become a regular in Tottenham's midfield. Will Hughes - A lot has been said about Derby's 19-year-old midfielder but, unless Derby get promoted this season, it's probably too early for an international call-up.
