Newcastle United is a club that not only manages to find a place in the heart of Magpies supporters, but also in those of the players who pull on the black-and-white-striped jersey. Footballers tend to build a largely-unbreakable connection with a club whose supporters live and breathe the beautiful game. Toon fans adore their beloved football club - and, as a result, they tend to adore a fair proportion of the players who represent it as well. Despite this, there are surprisingly few players who, in recent years - particularly since the formation of the Premier League in 1992 - have returned to play for, or even manage, the Magpies again having originally left the club. Players have returned looking to match the past glories of their original stint at the club - but, unfortunately, that has not always been the case. Some have cemented even more strongly their place in Newcastle United folklore as a result of returning, while others have (at least partially) damaged their reputation.
