11 Things Newcastle Fans Want To See From Magpies During Gateshead Friendly

9. Lascelles And Coloccini Starting Their Centre-Back Partnership Early

Jamaal Lascelles was signed by Newcastle last summer and then sent immediately back on loan to Nottingham Forest for the season, so Magpies supporters are yet to see him in a Toon strip. Now finally on Tyneside, 21-year-old Lascelles is seen as a future England international by the Magpies backroom staff - even if he struggled to get into the Forest team last season. Yet Lascelles is big, muscular and extremely powerful, so it will be interesting to see if he can strike up a successful partnership with captain Fabricio Coloccini early on and help the Argentine rediscover some of his best form. Gateshead will provide a physical examination, if little more, so Lascelles will have to put himself about a bit and protect his captain.
