11 Things Newcastle Fans Want To See From Magpies During Gateshead Friendly

4. "Attractive, Attacking Football"

In the minutes from the Fans Forum meeting, Steve McClaren asserted that he wanted to play "attractive, attacking football" at Newcastle - although he did state the Magpies also needed to be "effective". Ian Cathro's potential impact on the Newcastle squad and the Magpies' style of play has already been discussed, but it will be interesting to see how McClaren actually lines his Toon side up. Will he change the formation? Will Siem de Jong, Remy Cabella, Papiss Cisse, Rolando Aarons and Moussa Sissoko all be utilised in the same starting XI? One thing's for sure, Newcastle fans want to see "attractive, attacking football" - and it would be good for the Magpies to start as they mean to go on just across the River Tyne. Gateshead will be keen to impress their own supporters, but Newcastle must get at the Heed from the get-go and not allow the home side to settle. Attack from the off is what Newcastle fans want to see after far too many turgid displays in 2014-15.
