11. Sammy Ameobi, Darlington v Newcastle, 2011
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_izmcNK2U-o Pre-season friendlies don't often spark controversy or scenes of celebration but that's what happened during a pre-season friendly in 2011 when Newcastle United visited Darlington. Six thousand toon fans travelled down the A1 for the game and arrived in a jovial mood. Following wave after wave of attacks a goal appeared imminent. A chant of If Sammy scores were on the pitch was struck up by the toon and moments later, running past defenders, Sammy Ameobi shot low to the keeper's right to fulfil the wishes of the fans. Five hundred of the travelling contingent spontaneosly invaded as they had promised though the game was held up for ten minutes to clear the pitch.
