14 Biggest Premier League Transfer Mistakes Of Summer So Far
8. Rickie Lambert - Southampton To Liverpool
Rickie Lambert is not a good fit at Liverpool and will spend the majority of the season on the bench at Liverpool - according to former Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City forward Rodney Marsh at least. Marsh this week questioned the wisdom behind Lambert's purchase this summer and believes the striker is destined for failure at Anfield. And he might have a point. At 32 and in the winter of his career, Lambert's signing was a strange one. The former Southampton player doesn't have a great deal left in the tank and will probably have gotten more first team opportunities this season had he stayed on the south coast. With Liverpool boasting Daniel Sturridge, and also in the market for a big-money replacement for Luis Suarez, you can only really see Lambert playing second fiddle on Merseyside. The England international will probably be a bit-part player at Liverpool in 2014-15 and while the move represents something of a swansong before retirement - he is a boyhood Reds fan - he may well come to regret it when he looks back on his career.
