12. Reading 3-2 Middlesbrough - 2006
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yVa02GEB1c Now both Championship regulars, strangling the life out of each other in the second-rate abyss, it was eight years ago that Reading supporters began a fine debut campaign in the top-flight with a topsy-turvy victory over Middlesbrough. Just three months having reached the UEFA Cup final, the talent-laden Boro side turned up and hit Steve Coppell's spirited Reading side for two within the first twenty minutes. They say goals are like buses - you wait 135 years for one, and two come along at once - or something. Either way, that is exactly what happened as The Royals pulled two back before half-time, through strikes from Dave Kitson and Steve Sidwell. Backed by a reverberating Madejski Stadium, Boro boss Gareth Southgate began to feel the heat, as he struggled to cope with the onslaught of the Premier League new-boys. Before long, their dominance paid dividends as Leroy Lita steered home the winner ten minutes after the break, setting the precedent for what would be an excellent Premier League debut for The Royals.
