15 Most Shockingly Underpaid Footballers

6. Sergio Busquets

Wage: £65,000

It€™s not an exaggeration to state that Sergio Busquets is one of the best midfielders of the modern era. At just 26 years old, he has over 300 appearances for Barcelona, four league titles and two Champions League medals, and is a World Cup and European Championship winner with Spain. And all this on just £65k p/wk. One would have to think if he was in the Premier League with either Chelsea or Manchester City, the brilliant technician would be pocketing anything skywards of £150,000 on a weekly basis. It€™s not as if Barcelona have an inherent wage structure that they abide by either. Gerard Pique and Dani Alves both earn £120k p/wk, while Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Neymar take home upwards of £130,000 each week. The two highest paid players at the club are Luis Suarez - £200,000 p/wk - and of course Lionel Messi - £256,000 p/wk. Come on, Sergio - just ask for a pay rise. Even ousted midfielder Alex Song receives £10k more than the Spaniard each week.
