15 Worst Ever Premier League Signings

10. Robinho

From: Real Madrid To: Manchester City Fee: £32 million (Source: ESPN) Brazilian star Robinho cost City £32 million in 2008 and it looked like the big money acquisiton that would catapult Manchester City to stardom and a challenge of the Premier League title. However, unfortunately for City, Robinho failed to bestow the club with the influence that was pressumed. At Real Madrid, Robinho was talked about as the hottest new Brazilian star and he was billed as the new Ronaldinho, so when he arrived in Manchester, footy fans were salivating over the prospect of his trickery and skills in the Premier League. But in the two years that Robinho graced English football, he only managed 41 appearances in all competitions scoring a rather pedestrian 14 goals. His time at City was inundated with injury and in fact, in his last season at the club, he only participated in 12 games. As a result of this, he was no longer a City first teamer and was offloaded in January 2010 to his former club, Santos. Robinho clearly didn't produce anywhere near his best football at the Etihad, evidently missing the heat of the Brazilian sunshine, and with only two, injury stricken seasons at the club, after signing for a whopping £32 million, he definitely deserves his place on the Worst Ever Premier League Signings list.
