In December 2013, with Anderlecht trailing 2-1 at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis against Olympiacos in a group-stage match, the Belgians saw themselves reduced to just eight men in injury time when their keeper Silvio Proto was sent off - following the earlier dismissals of both Cheikhou Kouyate and Fabrice N'Sakala. Due to the fact Anderlecht had already used all three of their substitutions, an outfield player was forced to go in goal - and that man was Mitrovic.
