20-Goal Premier League Star On Verge Of Move To AS Roma
Everton's record signing wants Champions League football...
Everton are set to offload Romelu Lukaku to Italian giants AS Roma after just 12 months since making a permanent move to Goodison Park, according to reports. The Belgian international struggled to recapture the form that encouraged Toffees' boss Roberto Martinez to break the club's transfer record when Lukaku signed from Chelsea for £28 million last summer. In a Football Italia report, the 22-year-old is on the verge of joining the Serie A side despite rumoured interest from rivals Juventus. Although, with the Italian champions recently completing the signing of Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic from Atletico Madrid, it appears that Roma are firm favourites for Lukaku's signature. The Belgian won't be leaving the Premier League on the cheap though, with Everton likely wanting to make up most of the money that was spent on the former Anderlecht forward who scored 20 goals in all competitions last season for the Merseyside club. Failure to qualify for European football though after a disappointing league finish of 10th means the task of keeping hold of their star striker will prove difficult, especially with the player's agent Mino Raiola allegedly drumming up interest around Europe. The reports in Italy go as far to say that Lukaku has "one foot in Trigoria", with the opportunity of playing Champions League football the Giallorossi too good to turn down.
