20 Incredible Joe Rogan Experience Episodes Every Fight Fan Must Watch

14. JRE MMA Show 89 - Rafael Lovato Jr.

Make sure you've got a tissue with you for this one, because it's probably one of the more emotional JRE MMA episodes that you'll ever watch or listen too. Rogan has on Bellator middleweight champion and legendary Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Rafael Lovato Jr. onto the show to share a horrifying tale of the lead-up to his last fight.

The 36-year old was preparing for his title bout with then champion, Gegard Mousasi, when his world seemed to crumble around him. Not only did he suffer a debilitating hamstring injury that only allowed him to do pad work, he also found out that he suffers from a brain condition called cerebral cavernoma.

If you don't know what that is, then don't worry because we didn't either. In fact, neither did Lovato Jr. until it nearly took him out a title fight. Due to the nature of the condition, in which dilated blood vessels in his brain creates lesions, he had to go from doctor to doctor to make sure he wasn't completely pulled from the title fight.

While he somehow managed to make it to the bout and even win the strap in the process, he was ultimately forced to relinquish his belt due to health concerns.
