20 Key Things We Learned From Newcastle's Fans Forum Minutes

18. "Attractive, Attacking And Effective" Football Will Be The Style

Here's a positive for the Toon faithful - of sorts. McClaren has stated he wants to play "attractive, attacking" football - but also make Newcastle an "effective team". However, he also stated he may have to "adjust" his style a "little bit". Vishal Vedhare, the Equality Representative, asked: "Most previous managers/head coaches have a brand of football. What is yours?" To which Steve McClaren replied:
"We've put the statement up that we want to be respected in football as an attractive, attacking, but effective team. That's what we've always done. It's trying to get a balance; a product out on the field and a product from individual players. "Everyone is different. I've talked to Peter Beardsley and he tells me the crowd like to see the team getting the ball forward, not passing backwards. We might have to adjust a little bit. I'm talking behind the scenes, talking to staff, talking to you (the Fans Forum), reading things and finding out what kind of football you like to see."
