One of the most remarkable transfer deadline day occurrences came in January 2013, in which West Bromwich Albion forward Peter Odemwingie drove himself to London upon hearing reports that QPR wanted to sign him. Rangers boss Harry Redknapp denied such rumours, and the Nigerian was left stranded in the car park. He returned to Albion in disgrace, and was sold to Stoke at the end of the season.
