Robert Pires had already converted one penalty in Arsenal's 1-0 defeat of Manchester City, but contrived to mess up another chance from the spot in comical fashion. Partner-in-crime Thierry Henry apparently convinced Pires to tap the ball ahead for him to run on to, a risky and needlessly cheeky idea rendered ridiculous when the winger failed to even kick the ball hard enough to move it form the penalty spot.
