10. The British Home Attendance Record Is Held By Rangers
On January 2nd, 1939, Celtic visited Ibrox Stadium for a league match between both sides. The crowd was gargantuan, and it's been reported that 118,567 were inside the ground that day to watch both teams tear into one another. Those kind of figures are mind-boggling nowadays - the top crowds for modern football are usually around the 80,000 mark, still a big number, but the thought of nearly 120,000 people watching a game in the UK is staggering. Something which surely irks a few Celtic supporters is the fact that the game took place at the home of Rangers, meaning the record belongs to that club. Yes, there would have been ample support for Celtic, but the majority of the crowd were Bluenoses, meaning the distinction goes to the Ibrox club. Incredibly, that figure isn't even the highest, 148,570 attended a match between Rangers and Hibernian on March 27th, 1948. There must have been something in the water of both days, but that kind of attendance, or therein thereabouts, was common place for football matches back then. Still, Glasgow Rangers hold the home attendance record.
