20 Worst Squads In FIFA World Cup History
1. South Korea (1954)
So who are the worst World Cup squad ever? China? Saudi Arabia? Zaire? None of the above. Somehow, now respected international football team, South Korea, are statistically the worst team to ever play in the World Cup finals.
South Korea were drawn against West Germany, Hungary and Turkey for the 1954 World Cup group stages, but only played against Turkey and Hungary. This may be a relief for South Korea, as their record could have been much worse if they were made to play eventual winners, West Germany, as well.
In their first game, South Korea were utterly destroyed 9-0 by Hungary, which at the time was the biggest World Cup scoreline ever. They followed up this performance by losing 0-7 to Turkey in second match, meaning they finished with a -16 goal difference after playing just two matches.
