2019–20 UEFA Champions League Best XI
7. Alphonso Davies - Bayern Munich
What more can be said about the nineteen year old Canadian sensation that hasn't already been said over the course of his record-breaking campaign?
Having joined the Bavarian giants in January 2019 from Vancouver Whitecaps, he really burst onto the scene following the arrival of Hansi Flick. Blending together the positions of left back and winger thanks to his raw pace alone, the sight of seeing Davies bursting past some hapless right back has become one of the most exciting sights in football.
Having only made his first Bundesliga start in October, it took until matchday 4 of the Champions League for Davies to start his first European match. He kept a clean sheet against Olympiakos, the first of five clean sheets the Canadian helped keep over the course of the campaign.
Finding his best form under the lights during a midweek game, Davies' performances against Chelsea and Barcelona were some of the most scintillating solo shows the entire 2019-20 campaign mustered up. Breaking the record for the fastest speed registered during the Bundesliga season when he hit 22.69mph against Werder Bremen, Davies would become the first Canadian to win Europe's elite competition playing the full ninety minutes against PSG in the final.
