British football has been blessed with numerous rivalries. Some have developed over history whilst others have just arisen through a bad spat sprung out of the blue that were never laid to rest. One things for certain, rivalries refuse to die out. Whether it be your team fighting for local bragging rights for the ownership of the city, or a battle that lies off the field, you can be sure that these derbies will be one of the fiercest in European football. These rivalries are fast becoming spectacles for many neutral fans. Here is a list of what can be considered as the five fiercest derbies in British football.
5. Liverpool vs Everton - Merseyside Derby
Kicking us off at numero cinco is the clash of the Merseyside. On match day, the city is painted in streams of red and blue. You're either one of the other, no sitting on the fence for this one. The two homes of these two teams are separated by Stanley Park, and are just a mere mile away from one another. If there was ever such a tie for the right of the city, the Merseyside derby is that. The Daily Mail cited this fixture as 'The most ill-disciplined and explosive fixture in the Premier League', and rightly so. This fixture has had more red cards than any other fixture in the Premier League. There have been memorable moments, such as the famous Gary McAllister 94th minutes winner at Goodison Park with a 44-Yard freekick. Or more recently, the Suarez theatrical dive in from of a begrudged David Moyes.
