4. Emile Heskey
Ok, so star might be pushing my luck a bit with the mention of this former Premier League player, but hey, a man who helped England qualify for a World Cup by scoring one of five goals in Germany is a star in my book. For a time at least. The butt of most jokes about English football, Heskey has had to work hard to diminish his reputation as a lumbering oaf up front, and he has come a long way since then. A very long way in fact, 10,286 miles to Australian A-League side Newcastle Jets be precise. The New South Wales outfit, 'bagged,' the 35-year-old on a free transfer from Aston Villa last year, and he has gone on to, well, pretty much continue his goalscoring form that he became infamous in England for, after scoring just nine times in 24 games for his new club. Strange as it may seem to an Englishman, shortly after arriving at the Hunter Stadium, shirt sales with Heskey's No.9 on the back sold out within minutes and his signing is thought to have sold a further 2,000 season tickets for the club. Then came the crowning glory, as Australian broadcaster Fox Sports introduced,'Heskey Cam.' Yep, that's right,'Heskey Cam'. A camera that followed the former Leicester City man for the whole 90 minutes in a match against Melborune Victory. Didn't notice Bale getting that treatment following his move. Take that galactico!
