4. Andriy Shevchenko - Found His Goalscoring Boots At Last
A lot has been said and written about Andriy Shevchenko's dismal stay at Chelsea, but little and less has been said of his life after the club. In the summer of 2005, following the Roman Abramovich takeover two years prior, the Blues made the most of their new financial situation by splurging £30.8 million on Shevchenko, bringing him to England from AC Milan. Infamously, he was a flop, scoring a paltry nine Premier League goals in 48 games. His poor goal-scoring ratio made him the Fernando Torres of his time - a big money acquisition who largely bombed at Stamford Bridge. Except Abramovich had the good sense to realise this one wasn't working out. Schevchenko was loaned back to Milan for the entirety of the 2008-09 season and signed for Dynamo Kiev on his return in 2009. And you'll never guess what happened to him there. He found his shooting boots. After struggling to hit the proverbial barn door with a banjo during his time with the Blues, the Ukrainian hit a good run of form in front of goal, scoring a highly-respectable 23 goals from 55 league appearances, even helping Kiev win the Ukrainian Super Cup in 2011.
