5 Premier League Teams Dramatically Better Since The Restart (And 5 Much Worse)
6. Worse - Norwich
Norwich were propping up the table when the season was indefinitely postponed and ended up finishing last after it returned. Even so, though, their post-lockdown performances were bad on a whole extra level.
Yes, Norwich were bottom and six points from safety in March, but that still gave them a fighting chance of survival. Earlier in the season they had scored a famous victory over defending champions Man City and their last game before the break had seen them knock Spurs out of the FA Cup. There was talent enough in this team to come out strong after the break. Even if they were to go down, they could have gone down fighting.
Instead Norwich lost every single one of their nine post-lockdown Premier League games (along with being unceremoniously dumped out the cup by Man United). Scoring just once and conceding 23, the Canaries ended up expanding that six point gap to safety into 14 by the time the final whistle blew on their final day 5-0 defeat to Man City.
The absolute low point came from their must win game against fellow strugglers West Ham. Needing a victory to stand any chance of survival, you would expect Norwich to scrap their hardest. Instead a limp performance led to a 4-0 defeat and Norwich being dumped out of the league with three matches still to play.
