5 Reasons Why Arsenal Got So Humiliated Against Chelsea

3. Arsenal Didn't Bring Their Game

Given Wenger's perplexing choice of tactics, it was not much of a surprise to see Giroud cutting a lonely and frustrated figure in his lone striker role, and the other Arsenal attackers struggling to split open the Chelsea defence, who have 14 clean sheets after this match. With plenty of failed dribbling attempts leading to counter attacks and weak passes getting intercepted continuously, they were mostly restricted to take shots from awkward angles and stances. The only bright spot for Arsenal was in the 73rd minute, when Giroud combined well with his midfielders to link up a classic Arsenal pass and move play, which, if not for some smart defending, would lead to glorious goal scoring chance, not that it would matter much. Earlier in the season, Arsenal has been demonstrating this week in and week out, keeping it tight at the back and unleashing their creativity to much devastation at the front. In this game, with key players like Jack Wilshere and Mesut –zil injured, Arsenal are devoid of ideas to penetrate the Chelsea backline, with no alternatives involving speed if the initial attempts fail. Arsenal didn't play like Arsenal. Chelsea did.
