5 Reasons Cardiff City Were Daft To Sack Malky Mackay (Despite Solskjaer Appointment)

5. Cardiff Are Only In The Premier League Because Of Malky Mackay

It annoys me when I see people suggesting that Cardiff were promoted because of Tan€™s investment. Yes, it€™s true that the Malaysian businessman has invested money that has helped the team, but plenty of people have tried to buy Premier League football before and it hasn€™t worked out. If you look at the Cardiff squad prior to this summer, it€™s one that is largely full of Championship players. The Scottish manager knew what he had to do to mould that team and get the side promoted. He is the one that accomplished that and to some extend Tan€™s involvement was a distraction rather than an advantage. Quite why Mackay was replaced so soon after getting the team to the promise land is well beyond me, after getting them there €“ I would have felt he deserved the chance to try and kept them there. The team aren€™t currently in the relegation zone, and things were largely going well €“ especially after taking four points of the two big Manchester clubs as well as beating Swansea already this season.
