5 Reasons Cardiff City Were Daft To Sack Malky Mackay (Despite Solskjaer Appointment)

1. Mackay Knowledge And Experience Of The English Game Would Have Been A Safer Bet

Solskjaer certainly has the potential to a successful manager in the English game, but this very high pressure job €“ and as we know there is no time to learn in the Premier League. Mackay has obviously learned his trade as a manager with a spell in charge of Watford, where he also worked with Brendan Rodgers who has gone on to be successful with Liverpool. The fact that he knows the culture and players at Cardiff after being there since 2011 has to be seen as a massive advantage. 40-year-old Solskjaer has gained managerial experience in Norway by taking of charge of FK Molde, and certainly does know the English game from his days with Man Utd. He has also gained some notable coaching experience by taking charge of the reserve team for a while. But this is the Premier League and I think we would all agree that this is his first really big job in the game €“ so there is no doubt that Cardiff are taking a massive gamble on him. In many ways, I hope it does work €“ but with the way that Tan wants to run the club it€™s hard to see. Mackay was just about coping €“ but it may not be so easy for a new manager to do that without success with the club.
