Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o, Demba Ba. Three top quality strikers. Ish. Their names are world famous (well, Torres and Eto'o for sure) but the numbers do not add up. Torres- 19 goals in 99 league games. Eto'o - six in 13, inflated by a hattrick against Manchester United. Ba three in 23. These are not the records of title winning strikers. 43 goals in the league this season is the lowest in the top 4 four goals lower than Arsenal who have needed a striker since, like, forever. Romelu Lukaku will certainly prove a useful option but it would be too much to expect the 20-year-old to be the 25-30 goals a season striker Chelsea are crying out for. While Manchester City are blasting through goal scoring records Chelsea have to scrape out results because they cannot put teams away. The goalless draw at home to West Ham last time out was a prime example. I don't need to waste your time with tired old clichés about goals winning games but there is a reason why Chelsea do not yet have the impression of being title winners and City do. Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko versus Torres, Eto'o and Ba? No contest.
