2. Keeping Wayne Rooney

First off, selling Rooney to Chelsea would have been title suicide! He has a few critics but few can doubt that he is still one of the most gifted forwards in the Prem. To let him go to a title rival would a) blunt your team and b) improve their team, so it was imperative that they prevented him pitching up sticks at Stamford Bridge. Rooney of course found himself somewhat out of favour with Ferguson, to the extent he was dropped for the last couple of games of last season. Added to this there is the €˜did he put in a transfer request€™ saga, His old boss becoming his new boss in David Moyes (with whom he has a colourful history with) and general questions about his commitment over the summer. So what does this all add up to? Simple: Wayne Rooney has a point to prove. And when Wayne is in the mood he is explosive on the pitch. An on fire Rooney would easily benefit United, and I feel that once his head wound heals that is exactly what United will have!
