5 Reasons Why Roberto Martinez Will Be The Next Arsenal Manager
4. He Has Shown He Can Cope With The Next Step Up
One question that was asked a lot before Martinez took the job with the Toffees was whether he could make the step up from relegation battlers to a team challenging for the top six, and the Spaniard has answered those critics, and some. The Spaniard has already stamped his authority over the squad, and even though we are just 15 games into the season, Everton are a force to be reckoned with. The Toffees currently occupy fifth place in the league and have seven points from a possible 12 against last season's top four, proving that he has already reversed the fortunes of his predecessor against the top clubs. Before he moved to Goodison Park however, many felt that he was being over hyped, and was the victim of his minor success with Wigan having won the FA Cup last season, leading some to believe that he is not as good as was being reported. He has responded by making his side extremely easy on the eye and proving that he has what it takes to take his career to the next level. His side's defensive capabilities have also been on show, with the Toffees joint second in terms of goals conceded, with just 14 goals so far ion their 15 games. This has shattered the rumours that Martinez was not able to maintain a solid defence following several drubbings whilst in charge at Wigan. So will he be able to (in time) go even further and step up to the next level and take on a challenge as big as Arsenal? At the moment it very much looks like it.
