5 Reasons Ronda Rousey Could Lose UFC Title This Month
5. Looking Past Her Opponent
There's a huge fight waiting in the wings for Ronda Rousey. It's a fight everyone is excited to see, arguably the biggest fight to be had in women's MMA, and against Ronda Rousey's most dangerous opponent. And it's not a fight with Cat Zingano. The fight that represents the biggest bout of all time in women's MMA would be against former Strikeforce and current Invicta champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino. The two are bitter rivals who have exchanged heated words in the press and have a genuine hatred of each other. Cyborg is a feared striker unlike anyone Rousey has ever fought, but carries with her the scarlet letters of P, E, and D - performance enhancing drugs, as she failed a drug test and was suspended several years back. The UFC tried to bring her in, but her then manager, Tito Ortiz, steered her along a different path. After claiming cutting weight to bantamweight would eliminate her ability to bear children or worse, she tried anyway, but recently failed. All that said, it's believed that Cyborg is on the horizon for Rousey. Invicta president Shannon Knapp this week said that the fight is "closer than it has ever been." All this could be a huge distraction for Rousey, causing her to look past a very dangerous Cat Zingano at the end of the month.
